Actually they were very lovey-dovey with each other. They were calling to Nene on the other side of the golf course, and eventually flew over to join them. They were a very cute couple!
Thanks for your nice comments Scott. They really are lovely. Wish they hadn’t been in such tall grass so I could have shown their feet. They’re webbed only about half way, with long claws to assist them in climbing over the lava rocks.
I really love the Nene. Last year it took me awhile to find them. This year I found a pair when I wasn’t really looking for them. It pays to always have your camera with you!
