I have sometimes been discouraged by my lack of birding opportunities. Work and responsibilities seem all too often to get in the way of my doing the things that I really enjoy doing. On a recent Saturday I didn’t have a great deal of time and decided to take a trip to the Rio Grande Zoo at the Albuquerque Biopark to see if there was something there that might provide an interesting subject. A colorful flock of Caribbean Flamingos were amusing to watch and fun to photograph.

Earth Day 2011
For Earth Day 2011, a photo of one of my favorite places, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, located about 90 miles south of my house. I am thankful that such places exist. I took this photo on February 5, 2011.
